Cowboys Defeat Indiana (49-33)

Something Broke

Wouldn't you know it, about the time the game started our webserver decided to quit serving pages. All is good though, as I hit it with a really big hammer remotely.

It's on...

Game on !

Televised..

There's been a big stink over the NFL channel carrying the game.

With that many TV trucks on the transmit pad, I'd like to think that folks in Oklahoma would be able to get the game...somewhere.

One hour to go..

We found the home of the Sun Devils. Thanks to Google Maps for smartphones.

As you can see from the picture, we got here a little early (10:45am).

Bowl Gifts

Christmas gifts for players from the Insight bowl brings a Sony PSP, Bulova watch, Commemorative football, fleece blanket, hat. Check out what the other bowl are giving out.

EDIT:
James just pointed out that the list I posted was 2005. The new list is
Microsoft Xbox 360 game system, NCAA Football 08 Xbox game, Bulova watch, Insight Bowl hat, Frito-Lay snack pack.

Insight bowl press conference

This morning, found us at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Az for the Insight Bowl press conference. The Camelback Inn is a Marriot resort, and the accommodations appear outstanding. This photo is of the courtyard area, looking back into the mountains. This hotel housed the majority of the photographers and writers throughout the days leading to the bowl game.

Todays press conference was full of the usual Oklahoma Media suspects, and some of the Phoenix area media types.

No real big suprises, just a lot of the same questions surrounding the prospects of a win or lose record. There was also a bit of chatter over the Bobby/Zach quarterback switch. (That feels like years ago)

The afternoon found us taking lunch near our hotel, in a strange little restaurant that James says is nationwide, The Rain Forest Cafe. If you've never been to one, I think it's something you probably need to experience at least once. Nothing like fake thunder and lightening every 15 minutes to scare the little tykes dinning.

We also found some time to take a short hike (Trail #300 Summit Trail) in the Arizona Mountains, located only a mile or two from the media hotel. That adventure is a whole different story, but it is sufficient to say that it was probably not the smartest thing to march to the top of a mountain with a bunch of high dollar glass. But it made for some decent images, even if the setting sun stubbornly didn't produce that good of a sunset.

Phoenix, here we are.

Well, we finally made it into Phoenix, AZ. After fighting the ice through Texas, driving late into the night through New Mexico and being stopped for a good 90 minutes in phantom construction zones in Arizona, we arrived safely at our hotel here in Phoenix. 1058, that's what the trip odometer read as we parked our rental car to unload.

After unpacking a little and getting our camera batteries charging we decided to head to the Sun devil media registration to pick up our credentials for the game. Unfortunately this meant driving across town. With the help of Google Earth and a Pocket PC we were able to navigate down unfamiliar streets, only having to turn around a few time. (Phoenix likes to hide its street and business signs behind trees and shrubs.) Fortunately we made it to the registration 30 minutes before closing time. After getting our custom "photo id" photo credential, parking pass and a lovely Insight Bowl leather organizer we are now ready to cover the OSU vs Indiana Football game on new years eve.

Go west... (Bowl bound)

As I write this we are west bound just passing the continental divide. It's about 2 am and Las Cruces is in the rear view mirror. Thanks God for bluetooth, Pocket PC and Cingular. How did we ever get away from the office before this came along. So far the trip's been relatively uneventful...except for 20 miles of solid ice on I40 as we entered Texas. Well over and hour and a half was lost in that mess.
We're making much better time than we had intended, and for that reason, we're going to push a little closer to our destination before calling it a night.
If all goes well, tomorrow, will find us at our hotel near Tempe. Shortly following that the fun will commence. We anticipate a press conference coverage in addition to our standard game coverage.
As always we're happy to accommodate editorial image requests for qualified publications via our contact form (please leave a phone number for confirmation, as we are out of the office.)

Welcome

It has taken a bit longer than we anticipated, but our photo blog is live. We hope to use this as a tool to communicate with our customers, fans, family and friends. One of our primary goals is to post as we update images within the archive. Check back frequently for updates!
